As a female living w/HIV for over 25+ years and 19+ yrs on meds, ADAP is definitely a life saver. 7 years ago, I had to go on SSDI & couldn't afford my HMO's $25 per med co-pay. Up until then, my adherence had been lackadaisical at best. Once I got on ADAP, that all changed, as I became more personally interested in my care because I was/am receiving free medications that I'm truly thankful for. Should I be required to start paying that $25 again, then life may well be over for me.
