WHEN WILL THE GEL BE AVAILABLE TO THE MARKET
Its coming "vivagel" is the one in the next 2 years... Let's all hope of the pharmaceutical and condom companies let this product hit the market!!! On 3 humans clinical trials "vivagel" protects up to 95% from hiv and hsv... Lets make it boyss.. google it
And I still ahve the same old question...when, oh when, will they studies that can benefit us gals who are HIV+ and want to keep our male partners safe?
I was happy to read about the recent success in Africa with this gel procedure in women. I am wondering if it would be possible to develop the same procedure for men and women to use anally. Would the gel have the same effect of attacking HIV cells in the anal canal of men and women? If not, what would be the reason it would not work. It would seem that the anal canal would be much like the vaginal canal, when receiving the gel and killing HIV Cells in sperm.
Did not state if there were any skin reactions to the male in the study. Also didn't state if this agent kills Sperm. We need answers.
If the blood levels of the drug are linked to the efficacy, then why are we using a gel as a drug delivery tool? Why not just use a pill? This would be an off-label use, but the drug is already approved in pill form. The most obvious use is for hiv negative partners in relationships with HIV positive people as a backup protection method for preventing infection. It begs the question- Can monotherapy be a successful prophylactic?
