I will be excited only when FDA announces a cure for HIV/AIDS.
Must admit I'm wary about the May 15th advisory committee on Home HIV testing. If people can obtain an HIV tester anywhere such as drugstores, how can this ability be abused or misused? With out-dated US laws against people with HIV still in-tact, will rampant HIV testers be a potential threat to those infected, (I.E., by making them more susceptible to the unjust laws still on the books)?
Tested poz @ home
Can anyone else here imagine the absolute horror that would come from testing poz for the first time in front of a trick that was using it as a screening agent? Home Access is brutal enough, with their half-baked "counseling". The idea of "your test was positive" being followed by "get out of my bed you filthy monster" is unthinkable. Bad idea. The probable implications for traumatized newly DXd people are unspeakable. Not that it's ever stopped te FDA before.
