This still needs to be an option that a doctor would evaluate while treating his patients. We are assuming that the HIV medication has affects on other disease processes and this is unclear. I have done a doctor recommended ddrug holiday for a short period of time to protect marginally effective medications successfully.

I DO AGREE WITH THIS POSITION THAT IT IS BETTER TO STAY ON A FAILING REGIMEN RATHER THAN HAVING NONE. A DRUG HOLIDAY LEAVES THE PERSON WITHOUT ANY PROTECTION HOWEVER WEAK IT MAY BE. THIS ALSO INCREASE THE CHANCES TO DEVELOP MORE RESISTANCE TO DRUGS. BRAVO
