As we age the body doesn't always produce enough vit D even with sun exposure. I take 5,000 IU D3 per day. All I can say is this vitamin has made me feel great (it stops depression) and seems to be helping with my cardiovascular problems too. Do yourself a favor and take vit D

Please note that we can get enough natural vitamin D only if we expose our skin to the UV rays of the sun (or a tanning bed), without using a sunscreen (if we put a cream with suncreen, our skin doesn't understand that we are tanning and therefore our body doesn't build vitamin D). It's important to get the more UV rays possible every day, but without sunburning.
