Other young adults are also putting youthful faces on the virus—but their medium is more slick Benetton than backcountry billboard. Hope’s Voice, a gang of four HIVers, has been slapping its “Does HIV Look Like Me?” posters and postcards across high schools and colleges since last May. The two men and two women, ages 23 to 28, have pounded out multiculti collages, accompanied by HIV info for their straight-talkin’ speeches. “We wanted to use the ‘I never knew what HIV looked like’ concept on a larger scale,” says cofounder Todd Murray, who hatched the idea after hearing “I never would have thought you had HIV” one too many times.
