Give Me Fever

You probably know of Henry Heimlich’s world-famous anti-choking maneuver, but you might find his other innovation harder to digest: treating PWAs by infecting them with malaria, the theory being that the high fevers will boil away HIV. The CDC thinks “malariotherapy” more mad scientist than science, and UCLA is investigating two of its researchers for helping Heimlich, now 83, conduct human experiments in China.
