Bone Loss

by Staff

An Argentinian study of 111 HIVers (including 33 who’d never been on HAART) found only one factor linked to loss of bone density: how long each person had been positive. The kind of HIV meds people were taking—and whether they were taking them at all—made no difference in their degree of bone thinning. All the HIVers had more bone loss than negative subjects.
