Calling all coinfecteds! In a Johns Hopkins study of 2,000 HIVers, hep-C HAART-takers with undetectable viral loads saw equally high CD4 count rises as the hep-C-free. These new data fly in the face of assumptions that coinfectees fare worse. “It’s important that coinfecteds get treatment for HIV,” said study head Richard Chaisson, MD. “[With it, they] have the same prognosis as people without HCV.”
