Suzana Murni, the first HIV positive woman to go public in Indonesia [see "Oh, Suzana!" POZ, July 2000], died July 6 of lymphoma. Founder of the peer-empowerment group Spiritia, she was a leading voice for PWA rights in Asia. Murni only began treatment in her final months -- she had refused HIV meds on principle, because her fellow Indonesian HIVers lacked access. She was 29.
