Speak Out

by Staff

"An Early Frost led to nothing. When we did it, we thought that TV would be a lot more open dealing with AIDS and gay people. But what happened was most networks and producers said, 'Well, we don't have to deal with that again,' or 'That's already been done.'"

-- Ron Cowen, Frost scribe (and Showtime's Queer as Folk co-creator) on his 1985 flick, the first TV movie about AIDS. Cowen and partner Daniel Lipman's racy new gay series has -- count him! -- one minor HIV positive character. (Houston Chronicle, 12.3.00)
