Wart's Up?

by Tim Murphy

Genital and anal warts aren't just icky and itchy-they're the mark of the STD, human papilloma virus (HPV)- a serious cancer causer in HIVers. Now Canadian boitech Stressgen reports that trials of a potent immune boosting combo protein, HspE7, led to major downgrading of male anal dyplasia in three quarters of the guys. The gals' study isn't far behind. Three years from market, HspE7 promises a big advance on current laser or cold-knife surgery-and for less, er, bump ride.
