Africa’s HIV Obstacles? Doctors and Politics

August 18, 2006—A severe shortage of doctors and nurses may be Africa’s biggest HIV problem, according to the Word Health Organization (WHO), while the ActionAid International (AAI) blames the indifference of the region’s political leaders. Health care workers are lured elsewhere by better pay, but the WHO also blamed death, disability and poor treatment.
