India Kick-Starts Free Treatment

September 29, 2006—India is doubling the number of treatment centers offering free care and meds to people with HIV. There are an estimated 5.7 million HIV positive Indians—possibly more than in any other country—and the government hopes to reach 85,000 of them when the new clinics open.
