Rents Rocket for NYC’s Positive Poor
October 5, 2006—State officials are ordering New York City’s welfare agency to jack up rents for HIV positive people living in government-subsidized housing. The increase, from 30% of their income to over half, takes effect November 1 and leaves most people with only $330 a month for all other expenses.
