$1 Million for Carolina’s Black Churches
October 6, 2006—The South Carolina state legislature has approved $1 million to fund church-based HIV prevention efforts, the first such initiative in a U.S. state. The program, dubbed Project FAITH (Fostering AIDS Initiative That Heal) and spearheaded by the South Carolina HIV/AIDS Council, targets African-American churches with individual grants ranging from $2,500 to $25,000.
