October 9, 2006—Omololu Falobi, director of Nigeria’s Journalists Against AIDS, died last week from gunshot wounds after getting caught in the cross fire of an armed robbery. Falobi, 35. won international awards for his work, and JAAIDS redefined AIDS reporting in Nigeria—breaking scandals, publishing a monthly newsletter and running AIDS reporting programs at top journalism schools. Falobi is survived by his wife and two small children.
