Global Fund’s Bucks Going Nowhere Fast

October 26, 2006—The Global Fund to Fight AIDS Tuberculosis and Malaria needs a better system to help countries implement the Fund’s $5.8 billion in grants on the ground, according to a report released yesterday by the Center for Global Development. Problem areas include Kenya, which has distributed only 38% of the money it has received and Uganda, where grants were temporarily suspended last year after reports of “serious mismanagement.”
