Homophobia Fuels AIDS in Zimbabwe

October 27, 2006—Extreme homophobia and laws criminalizing gay sex in Zimbabwe cause even AIDS service organizations to turn away gay men seeking HIV information and treatment, according to the activist group Gays and Lesbians of Zimbabwe. They add that President Robert Mugabe has repeatedly condemned homosexuality, publicly referring to gay people as “worse than pigs and dogs.”
