The New York-based Latino Commission on AIDS is among a coalition of groups urging federal intervention into the operations of Puerto Rico’s Health Department, which has long faced charges of corruption and mismanagement. Last week, the island-based group Pacientes de SIDA de Politica Sana sent the federal Health Services and Resources Administration a desperate call to arms. The letter demanded that the agency guarantee that Ryan White funds reach those in need.
