Names Reporting, Coast to Coast
All 50 U.S. states will report new HIV infections by name instead of numerical code by the end of 2007, a move some advocates worry could lead to discrimination. Several states have rushed to change from an anonymous numeric system after the feds began linking AIDS funds to reporting by name in 2006; the last three states reporting by code—Vermont, Maryland and Hawaii—are switching over now.
