NYC to Promote Circumcision

The New York City Department of Health is planning a campaign to promote circumcision for adult men in order to reduce HIV infection, and is proposing that the procedure be provided at no cost to uninsured men. In three recent African trials, circumcision reduced HIV transmission through heterosexual sex by about 60%. About 65% of U.S. male babies are circumcised, compared with 30% globally.
