A Little AIDS Awareness With Your Roadside Snack

Health officials in Taiwan are considering a prevention campaign involving “betel nut girls,” women who sell the popular snack to truck and taxi drivers from street stands. The women, who dress scantily to compete with other vendors, would distribute condoms and AIDS awareness info to their betel nut customers. Some officials are concerned about promoting the nuts, however, which some doctors believe cause cancer.
