Indians to Richard Gere: No Kissing, Please

Angry crowds in several Indian cities burned photographs of Richard Gere and Bollywood actress Shilpa Shetty today to protest a public display of affection they shared last night. After a news conference in New Delhi, where the actors discussed the HIV prevention needs of Indian truck drivers, Gere kissed Shetty on the hand and several times on the cheek—gestures that demonstrators say are inappropriate in Indian culture.
