NYC Activists Debate HIV Services
New York AIDS activists are sparring with City Council Speaker Christine Quinn over her reported lack of support for an initiative that would improve services for asymptomatic New Yorkers with HIV, according to the local New York City TV station NY1. Quinn, a longtime supporter of HIV/AIDS projects, said the cost of providing rent and related services for positive New Yorkers who don’t have AIDS or serious HIV infections could run at about $100 million per year.
