Syphilis Up Among Gay and Bi Men

Syphilis, which multiplies the risk of contracting HIV by two to five times, has soared among gay and bisexual men in the past decade. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention officials say gay and bisexual men accounted for more than 60 percent of syphilis cases in the United States in 2005, up from 7 percent in 2000.
