The AIDS advocacy group CHAMP (Community HIV/AIDS Mobilization Project) is criticizing a new HIV/AIDS plan issued by the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention as “narrow” and “settling.” The plan aims to reduce the number of new infections in the United States by 10 percent by the year 2010, a goal that CHAMP finds in conflict with the CDC’s recent commitment to tackle the epidemic in the African-American community.
