Jersey Moms Face Mandatory Testing
A bill proposed last week would make New Jersey the first state to mandate HIV testing for both pregnant women and their newborn babies—unless a woman opts out in writing. The bill, introduced by Senate president Richard J. Codey, would require testing for expecting moms both at the beginning of their pregnancy and again during the third trimester.
