Miss Navajo Nation Gets the Word Out

Among the obstacles to spreading AIDS awareness in the Navajo nation: Limited access to treatment clinics, confidentiality concerns and traditional beliefs that speaking about death and disease can bring it upon oneself or a loved one, reports the Mohave Daily News. To combat this, Miss Navajo Nation (24-year-old Jocelyn Billy) has been using her title to get the word out about HIV and STDs.
