Medical Marijuana Legal in New Mexico
A New Mexico state law legalizing medicinal marijuana use for people living with HIV and other conditions took effect July 1. New Mexico is the eleventh state to legalize medi pot. But it’s the first to require that the herb be grown in state and regulated by the department of health—sparking questions if the feds, who still forbid medicinal marijuana, could prosecute state employees.
