Alito Voted Against Workplace Rights for HIV Positives

November 3, 2005—Supreme Court nominee Samuel Alito helped write a 1986
Justice Department decision in favor of firing people with HIV from the
workplace if and when they test positive, Tuesday's Washington Post
reported. The ruling stated that federal disability protection laws
didn’t prohibit discrimination based on insufficient medical knowledge.
Alito explained the decision to the Post by saying he “had to interpret the law as it stands.”
