Magic Says HIV Is Blessing and Curse

November 9, 2005—HIV positive basketball superstar Magic Johnson says his HIV has been a blessing and a curse. “The plus is that I come out and talk about it. That first year, everybody ran out and got tested,” Johnson told ESPN on Tuesday. “I’ve been the curse because I’m doing so well. Everyone said, ‘Well if I get it, I’ll be like Magic.’ ”
