Pope Feels Close to PWAs, Stays Mum on Condoms

November 30, 2005—Pope Benedict feels close to people with AIDS and their families, according to a statement he made today in honor of tomorrow’s World AIDS Day. Condoms, however, were not in his gospel, as the Pope continued to steer clear of any mention of the church’s position against contraceptives that can prevent the spread of HIV.
