Jamaica HIV Activist Shot Dead

December 2, 2005—Steve Harvey, who offered support to gay men and sex workers living with HIV in Jamaica, was found dead on the eve of World AIDS Day. Three armed robbers broke in to Harvey’s home, demanding money and forcing him into a car in which he was later found shot. Initial reports suggest that homophobia may have been a motive in the killing.
