Drug-Resistant HIVers Don’t Progress Faster

December 14, 2005—People with drug-resistant HIV do not progress to AIDS any faster than others or show an impaired reaction to first-line meds, according to a long-term study appearing in the January 1 issue of AIDS. The resistant subjects did have fewer CD4 cells after the first year of infection, but leveled off to average CD4 counts thereafter.
