Brit Couple Suing Gov’t Over Morning-After Pills
December 23, 2005—Two gay, positive men are taking legal action against Britain’s Department of Health for the government’s lack of a clear policy on non-occupation post-exposure prophylaxis (NPEP). The couple argue that NPEP, a 28-day regimen of antiretrovirals that blocks HIV infection if taken with 72 hours of exposure, could have prevented the younger chap from getting HIV when their condom broke once during sex.
