Chinese Boy Loses Blood Claim
December 30, 2005—A Chinese appeals court has rejected the claim of a 9-year-old boy whose family says he got HIV from a 2002 blood transfusion at a Peking University hospital. Neither the hospital nor the Red Cross Blood Center are to blame, the courts found, even though the boy tested HIV negative before the transfusion and had no other exposure.
