Routine Testing Does The Job In Botswana
January 27, 2006—The percentage of Botswanans who know their HIV status has shot way up since doctors began offering HIV tests routinely two years back. At first, health advocates worried that patients’ confidentiality and rights would be compromised, but UNAIDS and the WHO now endorse routine testing in nations where meds are available. In 2002, Botswana became the first African nation with free treatment.
