Sex Workers Lose Brazil a US Grant—Again
March 2, 2006—Mardi Gras tore through Brazil this week with the usual ruckus and the usual shower of condoms. A story in the Washington Post today looks into that government’s success at deploying sex workers in its HIV prevention campaigns—and at the U.S. announcement last month that, for the second year in a row, the policy will lose Brazil an AIDS prevention grant of over $40 million.
