Fly the Friendly Skies to Fight AIDS

March 6, 2006—Twelve countries including Chile, Jordan and Norway signed on last week to a French plan to tax airline tickets as a way of helping fund international AIDS programs. The International Air Transport Association and the U.S. both oppose the tax, which is expected to raise about $248 million annually.
