On the Prison-Race-HIV Connection

March 9, 2006—The Washington Post yesterday highlighted the connection among African Americans between high prison rates and the explosion of HIV. A column in the paper cites a Berkeley study tracking the one out of 12 black men in jail or prison at a time when blacks have become nine times as likely as whites to get HIV.
