Heat-Friendly Kaletra Heads to Africa

April 12, 2006—Abbott Laboratories has filed for permission to sell the new no-refrigeration-required Kaletra (lopinavir/ritonavir) in South Africa, following protests about its unavailability in areas where electricity is scarce. Humanitarian organizations including Doctors Without Borders applauded the move but said they plan to call for wider distribution of the tablet and to protest its price tag.
