Poverty Feeds African-American HIV Rate
May 30, 2006—Poverty is one of the main factors behind African Americans’ high rate of HIV infection through heterosexual sex, reports a study in the Journal of Acquired Immunodeficiency Syndromes. Positive African American adults in the study also had higher STD rates and were more likely to have abused crack cocaine or to have slept with someone who had.
