HIV Infections Up in Scotland
June 29, 2006—New HIV diagnoses have more than doubled in the Lothian region of Scotland over the past four years, pushing the infection rate to levels not seen since the ‘80s. Infections among injection drug users are down, but about half of new transmissions are believed to have occurred through heterosexual sex.
