Malnourishment Sabotages HIV Treatment
June 29, 2006—People with HIV who suffer from malnourishment are six times more likely to die than other positive people after starting on treatment, according to a study in the July edition of HIV Medicine. In a separate story, the World Food Program announced yesterday that high HIV rates are increasing malnourishment in southern Africa because there are not enough healthy workers to farm and produce food.
