NYC to Confront Rising HIV Rates

June 30, 2006—A new report that HIV rates are on the rise in New York City among gay men under 30 has local officials alarmed. The city’s Department of Health says that between 2001 and the first half of 2005, the proportion of new HIV diagnoses attributable to men who have sex with men (MSM) went from 26 percent of all new diagnoses to 39 percent.
