HIV Test Results Must be Delivered

August 11, 2006—A New Jersey appeals court ruled yesterday that a doctor or hospital that fails to notify a patient of HIV positive test results may be sued by that patient or by a sexual partner who was subsequently infected. The case was brought by a man who was never informed of the positive results of a test taken in 1994.
