Former Congress member RON DELLUMS (D-Calif.), best known for his “Marshall Plan” to combat AIDS in Africa, was nominated to head the PRESIDENTIAL ADVISORY COUNCIL ON HIV/AIDS. Dellums was elected to the House in 1970 as a young Berkley radical and served 27 years. After serving as chair of the Armed Services Committee for 12 years and then leaving the House, he became president of the Healthcare International Management Company. Along with 12 other new members to the council, he was expected to be confirmed in March.
