Cover Me

Ever imagine the Heart sisters singing Joni Mitchell over a lush chamber-orchestra arrangement? Or Cyndi Lauper channeling Marvin Gaye? Imagine no more: These tracks are standouts on Cover Me, a compilation of covers by artists like Sarah McLachlan and Billy Idol. Proceeds from the CD—a collaboration between the Northwest AIDS Foundation and AEI Music Network, Inc.—enable the foundation to provide local HIVers with everything from shelter to condoms. But don’t just buy the CD to do good—check out John Wesley Harding’s folksy unplugged version of “Like a Prayer.” Funnily enough, it still sounds like a Pepsi commercial.
