Soul Food, a GMHC peer-prevention program, cooked up a new campaign this spring to urge young black gay men to get tested. Plastered inside 1,140 New York City subway cars, the posters got their maternal instinct from volunteer interviews revealing that the prospect of telling Mom you’re poz is a big block to status seeking.
